Building a website for a construction company in Côte d’Ivoire: the SCORE case study

A construction company’s website has one job: reassure a project owner in under 30 seconds. That is exactly the brief SCORE, a leading player in Ivorian construction, gave our communication and digital marketing agency.

At this level, a “nice-looking” site is not enough. SCORE GROUP answers public tenders, works with funders such as the AfDB and the World Bank, and serves private groups. The website had to speak that language.

Here is how we built it, item by item.

TL;DR

🎯 Client: SCORE, construction company founded in 2013, headquartered in Korhogo, 5 areas of expertise, triple ISO certification.

🌐 Delivered: custom bilingual FR/EN website, 5 expertise pages, filterable portfolio, careers section, two qualifying contact forms.

✅ Result: a website that matches the client’s institutional partners, built to generate qualified project requests.

01Who is SCORE GROUP and why did it need a new website?

SCORE GROUP is an Ivorian construction company founded in 2013, specialised in five fields: roads and urban infrastructure, building, energy, water engineering and agricultural developments.

Its head office is in Korhogo, with a representation in Abidjan (Riviera Bonoumin). Its track record speaks for itself: road surfacing, drinking water supply in the north of the country, an R+5 headquarters in Abidjan, greenhouses and irrigation across 30 agricultural sites.

The problem was simple. Field expertise was solid. Digital visibility was not keeping up. A partner typing “SCORE BTP” into Google found nothing that matched the company’s stature.

This is a common situation in Ivorian construction: companies with billions in turnover running a website from 2015, or no website at all.

02What was at stake for this construction company website?

The main challenge: make a very diversified activity readable without losing the visitor.

Five different trades, public and private clients, international funders. One website had to serve all of these audiences.

Challenge What it meant
Institutional credibility A sober design, proof points (ISO, partners, figures), zero gimmicks
International audience A complete English version for foreign funders and partners
Readability of the 5 divisions A dedicated page per expertise, with its own projects
Lead generation A form that qualifies the request before the first call
Recruitment A company this size hires continuously: it needed a careers section

03How did PIXLSTUDIO structure SCORE’s website?

We designed a three-level architecture: the company, the expertise, the proof.

Each page answers a precise question a project owner asks before consulting a construction company.

The navigation architecture

  • About: the company, resources (equipment fleet, workforce), certifications and awards
  • Expertise: one page per division (roads and urban infrastructure, building, energy, water engineering, agricultural developments)
  • Projects: a portfolio filterable by field, with a detailed sheet and location for each project
  • News: ISO certifications, 2023 excellence award from the Ministry of Equipment
  • Careers and Contact

This structure is not decorative. It serves SEO: each division becomes an indexable page on its own query (“water engineering Côte d’Ivoire”, “agricultural development”, and so on). It is the same logic we apply to every professional website project.

Trust signals built into the home page

A public buyer does not read a website. They scan it. So we placed the proof where the eye stops:

  • ✅ Animated key figures: machines, professionals, kilometres of roads, boreholes, hectares developed
  • ✅ Triple ISO certification (9001, 14001, 45001) with the certificate visuals
  • ✅ Partner banner: AfDB, World Bank, Ageroute, CI-Energies, BNETD, ONEP, UNICEF, European Union, local banks
  • ✅ A 5-step process, from consultation to maintenance

04Why two contact forms rather than one?

Because a private individual who wants a borehole and an administration launching a road tender do not ask the same questions.

The form on SCORE’s website offers a choice from the start: individual or organisation.

Form Specific fields Budget ranges
Individual Project type (house, renovation, borehole, electrical) Under 10 M to over 100 M FCFA
Organisation Sector (administration, private, NGO, real estate development), service required Under 50 M to over 1 Bn FCFA

Result: SCORE’s sales team receives a request that is already qualified. They know who is calling, for which division, and with what order of magnitude. That is a direct time saving in lead handling.

❌ What had to be avoided: the generic “name, email, message” form that produces 80% off-target requests.

05What technical choices were made for performance and SEO?

A custom-built website, no generic theme, optimised for mobile and for Google.

In construction, a large share of visits comes from phones, often from a site or on the road. The website had to stay fast on a 3G connection in Korhogo.

Item PIXLSTUDIO’s choice
Development Custom-built, clean code, no template
Images WebP and AVIF formats to reduce page weight
Responsive Design adapted to mobile, tablet and desktop
Bilingual Full English version with alternate language tags (fr_CI / en_US)
On-page SEO Titles, meta descriptions, Open Graph markup, H1/H2 structure per page
Accessibility “Skip to main content” link available on load
Measurement Google Tag Manager installed for conversion tracking

These technical foundations are the ones we detail in our approach to SEO in Abidjan. A well-structured construction website ranks on its business queries without any advertising campaign.

06What does this project say about PIXLSTUDIO’s expertise?

That we design websites for decision-makers, not for design contests.

Three lessons to take from this project:

  • 🎯 Architecture before aesthetics. SCORE’s website is sober. Its effectiveness comes from its structure: each division has its page, each page has its proof.
  • 🎯 The form is a sales tool. Qualifying the lead at the source changes the sales team’s daily life.
  • 🎯 Bilingualism is not optional for a company working with international funders.

This project joins our other work for organisations with high institutional standards, from the Bingerville Mother and Child Hospital to KAYDAN Group. You can browse them in our web and branding portfolio.

08Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to build a website for a construction company?

Between 6 and 10 weeks for a site of this scope, depending on how quickly content is gathered (site photos, project sheets, certificates). The longest part is rarely the code, it is the collection.

Does a construction website need an English version?

Yes, if you work with funders, international groups or regional tenders. A complete English version, not a machine translation, strengthens credibility with these audiences.

Is a project portfolio necessary on a construction website?

It is the most visited page after the home page. A portfolio filterable by field, with the location and client of each project, is a far better asset than a PDF brochure.

Can SCORE’s team manage the website themselves?

Yes. Projects, news and job offers are updated from a back office, with no technical intervention.

How much does a website like this cost in Abidjan?

The budget depends on the number of pages, bilingualism and features (portfolio, careers, forms). We build a quote after a 30-minute scoping call.
